If you can change directions and keep up with your competitors’ tempo, you can help alter the course of a game. The Drop Step-Step Slide is designed to help you stay in a fundamental defensive position by helping you learn to change directions quickly on the court. This drill helps with reaction time. Line up along the baseline facing the sideline. You should be in a fundamental defensive position. On the coach’s command, begin step-sliding. Execute a reverse pivot (drop step) on your coach’s command and then continue step-sliding – on the next command. Go slow and concentrate on not crossing your feet. Stay low on your toes throughout the entire drill. When drop-stepping, use your hips to turn. Remember to make sure you are not standing up, which happens when you get tired. OC
