And if you learn how and when to do it, it will help take your game to the next level. If you’re up to the challenge, give the Checkmate Corner Shot Series a chance. The drill will teach you how to stop quickly on the court. Start in the corner at half-court without a ball. Sprint down the sideline toward to the corner and throw your inside foot out to stop, pivot and square up to the basket. During your first run through, perform the drill without the ball. Once you have the ball, sprint and dribble down the sideline toward the corner, throw you inside foot out to stop, pivot and square up to the basket, but keep your dribble alive. Next, perform a power range dribble toward the basket, along the baseline, and perform one of our shots. Do the drill on both sides of the court Remember to sprint down the sideline and make sure not to slow down as you approach the corner. Make sure to throw your inside foot out to stop and pivot, and pivot on your toes. Some players tend to slow down in order to stay on balance as they approach the corner. They also have a tendency to jump stop in the corner, rather than stop and pivot on their inside foot. OC |
