On Court, Carolina Courts roll out basketball development program in North CarolinaThink basketball, and you think the great state of North Carolina. Tar Heels. Blue Devils. Wolfpack. Bobcats. That’s why On Court Player Development® is teaming up with Carolina Courts to help promote and facilitate its basketball development program in the North Carolina market. Along with the Suwanee Sports Academy in Suwanee, Ga., Carolina Courts will be the first of two regional training centers to teach advanced player development and the “Americanized” version of the European Academy system.
Under the partnership, Carolina Courts will be a hub for the On Court Player Development® curriculum, Coaches Certification process, and events and expos within the North Carolina market. The On Court Player Development® curriculum includes player development methodology, including footwork, a standard education process for training coaches and programming modules for beginners to pros. The Carolina Courts relationship also will be complemented by the On Court Player Development® Skills2ScoreSM program, which the organizations will implement in recreation leagues and community programs throughout the state. Under the Skills2ScoreSM program, participating athletes can visit Carolina Courts for more advanced and year-round training options to complement their winter recreational seasons. Skills2ScoreSM is a turnkey program that includes coaches certifications, standard curriculum and organizational tools for league operators. The program gives coaches and players in the program access to online video training, team Web sites and social networking. “This is an exciting start to the fulfillment of On Court’s vision of aligning a network of advanced training academies all working together to improve the game,” says On Court CEO Mike Eddy. “Carolina Courts is a first-class facility with a staff that is committed to developing fundamentally sound players.” The program is an ideal fit for the Carolina Courts facility, says executive VP Scott Chitwood. “On Court Player Development® has created an innovative curriculum for helping players improve. We are excited about how the tools we can offer customers in the Carolina market can differentiate our programs – from certifying our coaches to utilization of the online Virtual Trainer in our programs.” On Court’s Skills2ScoreSM program is already established in more than 20 markets, including Arizona, Atlanta, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, Oregon, Southern California, Tennessee, Texas, The Caribbean, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin. The program will be rolled out into an additional 15 markets by the end of summer. Eddy says other academies would be added as the On Court program grows into these markets across the country. |
